Bob Phillips, our Department (State) Commander, came to our Post on November 11th, adding further to the prestige of the get together. At one point, there were approximately twenty veterans socializing . We've further discussed the possibility of a once-a-month Saturday morning breakfast. Those members who are reluctant to drive at night could avail themselves of a daytime opportunity to interact with their comrades. These are just a few of the many positive innovations which, I think, will strengthen our organization by attracting talented, active Legionnaires. Our Borough officials have long supported our mission, and the relationship between the borough and the American Legion is stronger than ever. Mayor Colombi, Co-Chairman of the "Women in Government" committee of the League of Municipalities sponsored a first time ever event "A Solute to Women in the Military" attended by more than one hundred and fifty women in New Jersey government in November, at the annual league convention. This is just a snapshot of the broad variety of activities your post has been part of, either directly or indirectly in just the past three months. A core group of Legionnaires have taken on the brunt of this increased activity without complaint, I hasten to add, but they need reinforcement because the load is pretty heavy. Since we are approaching the time of year when we make resolutions to be better people in the coming year, why not resolve to take a more active role in Post 38 in 2010. Do it now. You're gonna' like the way it makes you feel.................
