Edward Pringle's Biography
Ed started his long series of business world successes after graduating as an engineer from Lehigh University. Shortly thereafter he earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. In 1965 Ed went to work for Coopers & Lybrand (C & L) as a consulting partner. His projects included organization & labor control for manufacturers, studies for branded consumer goods, and management studies for hospitals. In 1974 Ed became a managing partner in the firm and assumed leadership of the New York office, which he restored to profitability. In 1976 he became regional director of the entire eastern U.S. Clients included consumer goods manufacturers, cosmetics firms, and a major telecommunication carrier. In 1980 Ed became National Director of Management Consulting Services. During his tenure C & L became the sixth largest consulting company by growing 500% over his eight year reign. He engineered the acquisition of five smaller firms and led the International Management Consulting Committee. Also during this time Ed served as a partner in an international oil company. In 1988 Ed became Deputy Chairman of Tax and Consulting Services, where he directed all management consulting, actuarial and benefits consulting, and tax services throughout the United States. In 1992 Ed left C & L to become Executive Vice President of William M. Mercer, Inc., where he oversaw strategic planning for Mercer Consulting Group, the world’s eighth largest firm of its kind. While at Mercer he directed United States technologic service for the country’s largest human resources consulting firm, putting them at the forefront of the cyber world. After all this business work experience Ed went back to school, but this time as Interim Associate Dean at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flager Business School. He taught both undergraduate and MBA candidates. He presented a number of courses and seminars involving the business of the human relation industry and was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Carolina Fellows Program. Ed has been a member of great many professional and community organizations. In the course of his career he has received many honors and has contributed to numerous publications. Ed lives with his wife Mary in North Carolina, and they have six children and five grandchildren. Ed’s interests include college sports, photographing flowers, golf, fishing and gardening. Ed and Mary look forward to retirement in about a year, and they expect to spend more time in their summer home in South Hero, Vermont.
